Web News for Environmental Junkies© Kenneth Friedman
Feb 28, 1997
Rejoice news junkies. If you have nothing to do, hate your local
newspaper and want to avoid recycling newsprint, the Web has
environmental news for you. Lots of it. Tons of it. More than you can
ever read, in fact. You can use search engines for news at most of these
sites. At some you can create your own newspaper and jump to it from
your bookmark list or personal web page. Some sites will even deliver
headlines to you by e-mail so you'll know when to "pick up the paper."
If you have a laptop and a long phone cord, you can even take your
electronic newspaper into the bathroom.
- Earth Times. Simply an
excellent on-line environment newsmagazine with sections on Africa,
Asia, the Americas and Global Leaders. Highly recommended for
content, design, speed and options for reading and searching. A "Best of
Web" worth far more than the price of its free admission.
- Excite. Search or create
your own newspaper and train it to recognize your interests..
Highly recommended. Responsive and well designed although a bit
cluttered until you figure out what you are doing. Trains quickly to
your news interests. Excite's pre-selected topics are also a gold mine
as these examples suggest.
