Cookie party sleepoverIt's summer and it is hot, hot, hot! A great summer tradition for children is a sleepover-- complete with giggling, no sleep, pranks and some gooey sweets. You can do the normal sleepover thing: Popcorn, pop and some movies. OR you can get a bit creative with the party and be supermom! Every kid loves a plate of cookies and some cold milk, so why not plan a cookie party sleepover? The idea is to drag the kids away from the telephone, Internet and television and into the kitchen. There, they can talk, gossip and interact while learning something new and cool. You also most likely don't want to fire up the oven in the hot summer to bake. This gives you the chance to bake during the wee hours of the morning. Older children will probably want to get involved in the whole cookie-making process. In fact, to be considered the coolest mom to ever host a slumber party, you might just have to organize the materials and ingredients for them and back off. For the younger set, supervision is probably called for -- unless you like scraping floury-egg mixtures off of your ceiling. Use your judgement and do what you feel is necessary to help the kids have a memorable and sweet night. Here are a handful of yummy cookie recipes to try with your giggling gang. They are arranged in order of their difficulty -- the toughest first and easiest last. Good luck and have fun with your child's first attempt at being a host or hostess!
