Ah! Research papers. For some reason they show their ugly heads when students are at their busiest: math, science, music, and English contests and prom, and graduation committees for instance. Yet, despite their unwelcome greeting, research papers and the steps that go into compiling these lengthy papers are invaluable and thus, a necessity. Those same research papers prepared me for college like no simple lesson could. I was forced to venture out on my own and find answers. Left on my own, I can still find needed information quickly and efficiently. I have my "MEAN" English teachers to thank.
While I think that research papers are important, I do think that HELP is perfectly acceptable! I've found several web sites that will make writing that research paper, or even simply coming up with an idea, a lot easier! I hope these help.
NOTE: In the past I've known teachers who asked their students to come up with an idea and research it, but not write the paper itself. That is a possible alternative; however, in my own experience, putting the paper together after compiling mounds and mounds of information was the real challenge! The paper itself taught me to be discriminating. Yes, it's a busy time of year, but juggling activities and schoolwork prepares students to face the real world! What do you think?
