Adorable Alpines


I have tried to create a scheme which will give all year interest. Spring colour is provided by bulbs (Chionodoxa (right), Narcissi, Cyclamen coum and Tulipa), Pulsatilla, Primula and Rhododendron. Summer brings Thymus, Sisyrinchium, Silene, Sedum, Penstemon, Helianthemum, Dianthus, Geranium and Armeria. The Penstemons, Helianthemum, Geranium and Armeria keep flowering throughout autumn and are joined by the gentian. At Christmas, the hellebore flowers, against a background of evergreen foliage of green, silver and purple.
