The next chapter, thirteen, is of particular value to florists and other flower arrangers. It discusses the use of cut bromeliad flowers in floral arrangements or containers of plants. These pictures present several ideas that will stimulate your own imagination in how to use these plants.
Landscaping and Interiorscaping is covered in chapter 14. Parkhurst describes how his nursery creates the arrangements. I particularly like the idea of keeping a permanent pot in the interior or landscape and simply keeping the actual plants in their growing pots. This makes it easy to exchange plants as necessary to keep the display up to date. Hawaii's many tropical plants are illustrated in Chapter 15. These include orchids, plumerias, gingers, anthuriums, and many other popular tropicals. This chapter is guaranteed to make you want to garden in Hawaii. The book concludes with a chapter listing all the products available through Parkhurst's nursery. Remember, this book serves as a catalog too. General Comments On Book Quality Each chapter in this book contains a "Billy the bromeliad" cartoon created by the author's wife. They are comical to say the least. Each cartoon is done in black and white with a balloon containing the text. The photography in this book is outstanding. The photographers deserve credit for producing these excellent photographs. The writing left just a bit to be desired. I was somewhat confused as to why blue highlighting lines were used to indicate the start of each paragraph or topic. I was very disappointed to find several spelling and grammatical errors scattered throughout the book. I contacted the author about this problem and learned that a foreign publishign company had failed to make the corrections he sent them. Should You Buy The Book?
