Euphorbia milii

This spring, I found a new variety called Euphorbia 'Short & Sweet' TM Pat.#6212 which is naturally self-branching. I purchased the plant and it already looks like a small tree. It comes from Oglesby which is a wholesaler only. I found the plant with an "Exotic Angel" brand label on it. With just a little pruning, I expect to have a nicely shaped indoor bonsai within a short time. Look through Angel brand plants at your favorite garden center to see if you can locate this plant. This new development in smaller, self-branching plants excites me. I hope they soon develop additional flower colors too. (Accompanying picture is used with permission from Oglesby.)

Landscape Uses for Euphorbia milii

This would make an excellent, impenetrable hedge in a warm, tropical climate (perhaps southern Florida or California?). I believe it would be outstanding in a warm desert region since it is drought tolerant. It would make an excellent potted patio plant that can take either full sun or partial shade.

SOURCES

If you find this plant as fascinating as I do, then check out the collection of Euphorbia milii in different colors available at Glasshouse Works. I am eager to order this collection and begin developing several crown of thorns plants in different flower colors.

Until next time, good gardening to you !
