Editor Returns from Year Long Break!
I am also trialing some new garden products. This includes everything from "squirrel chasers", planters, watering devices, to garden seats. Of course, I am reading many new garden books too! You'll be hearing about all these items and plants in future monthly columns. This column will be more general in nature than in the past. Sometimes it is necessary to take some time off from writing on a single topic in order to refocus your thoughts and activities. This past year has been one of reinventing myself as a gardener. I hope you'll enjoy hearing about the changes! This column will be also be monthly rather than weekly. NOTE: When you see this logo, you'll know it is a topic for discussion. Read through the following information and add your own comment in the Discussion entitled "Weed Wackers". Our townehouses had their annual flower day on May 17th. One of the chief topics of discussion among neighbors and maintenance staff that day was how we could keep the contracted lawn company people from destroying our gardens! Many of us are now blocking in our gardens in a feeble effort to solve the problem. Management claims others just have to learn to keep the garden properly weeded. Apparently the seasonal employees of these lawn care companies don't understand the difference between "weed flowers" and "garden flowers" because they continue to weed-wack the flowers down. Of course, this will not explain why some flower pots were weed-wacked to pieces last year! If any of you have had this type of garden problem, please talk about it in the discussion section. How did you finally solve it?
