Embroidery and Quilting

One of my favorite things to do in embroidery is to use the needle craft to enhance other crafts. This article will give you steps for using embroidery to enhance quilting.

The quilt, a wonderful vehicle for using embroidery, is a keepsake and treasure that your family and friends will cherish forever. To make this quilt uniquely yours, follow the steps below.

1. Select the theme of your quilt. If you want flowers, then you will want to select the type(s) of flowers and how the design of the flowers will work in the overall design of the quilt.

2. Select the size of the block that you wish to use. Remember the theme that you intend to use and always keep the design in mind. You want a balance in your quilt.

3. Select a "border color" and base color for each quilt block as well as the border color for the outside of the quilt. Using contrast colors will make the afghan sing a song of beauty.

4. Draw your designs on each quilt block using a fabric pencil.

5. Select the stitching and thread colors that you wish to use for each design.

6. Embroider your design on each block, sew the borders on the blocks, and finish off the quilt project.
