The Elvis Extravaganza National Impersonator Finals and Fan Club Convention took place this year on January 3,4,5, at the Westward Ho on the famous Las Vegas Strip. Hosted by Jamie Coyne, this yearly event, began with a blue suede ribbon cutting ceremony outside the hotel. With the sights, sounds and excitement of Vegas surrounding the crowd, local TV station channel 8, would start their coverage of the event. MTV would soon follow in their footsteps as the event got underway.

Jamie Coyne’s Elvis Extravaganza Fan Club hosts this popular annual event. This Elvis Fan Club is well known as The World's Largest, and can be joined free online at their Website.

All contestants in this years contest were backed by The Extravaganza Band and the world famous Jordanaires.

Showcasing the show this year, was last years 1st place winner, John Loos. John entertained us throughout the weekend with his remarkable voice. What an awesome talent this man is.

The top winners of the contest were eligible for reviews by Legend’s in Concert Producer and Director, John Stuart.

One of the brightest moments of the weekend however, was when Kathy Westmoreland made a surprise appearance. Just the mere mention of Kathy's name brought the crowd to their feet.

Watching her walk out on that stage, brought back so many fond memories of the '70s. You could visualize her standing beside the Sweet Inspirations as Elvis reached out his hand to her, as he'd done so many times in the past. "And the little girl with the beautiful high voice, Miss Kathy Westmoreland," he would say. I'm sure I speak for everyone in that room, when I say, "What a thrill it was to see Kathy up on that stage again."

Kathy’s voice can be heard on almost any of Elvis CDs and videos from the '70s. Just listen to some of the great songs like "Something," and you can hear her wonderful voice in the background. If you’d like to hear a solo by Kathy check out her web site at Kathy Westmoreland .

Kathy was soon joined by John Stuart. Kathy and John were friends in high school. Another of their class mates, was Steve Martin , who Kathy later teamed up with for a comedy act. What a wonderful life this great ladies had. Oh! To have walked a mile in "her" shoes.
