The The Elvis Extravaganza Fan Club, ran by Jamie Coyne and Kitty Wood recently added their 50,000th member. Kitty is the president of the club and Jamie is the producer of the Elvis Contests.
Michelle Marie Coleman, lucky number 50,000 resides in Nyack, New York and will be receiving packages for the next year.
I ask Michelle, who tells me she's never won a contest before, how it feels to be on the receiving end of all those prizes? She summed it up neatly in just a few words.
Boy am I excited.
Did you realize how close you were to being the 50,000th member?
NO! It was a complete surprise!
How did you win the contest?
My very special friend Jeff signed me up as a surprise. He was down at Graceland for the 25th Anniversary Vigil but I had to work and couldn't make it. He found out about the Elvis Extravaganza Fan Club there, and signed me up when he got back to New York.
How did you find out you were the big winner?
First Jeff forwarded me the announcement from the website, but I thought it was a joke, then Kitty e-mailed me as well, so I had to call Jeff to find out what was going on. He told me to call Kitty and then I knew it was true!
What are some of the prizes you'll be receiving Michelle?
Well, Kitty says I'll be sent gifts for the next year!! I will be receiving a trip to Las Vegas (my favorite Elvis movie is "Viva Las Vegas"!), an etched glass "Blue Suede Shoes" chess set, a commemorative plaque signed by Dick Clark, an autographed book by Donna Presley, cd's, posters, free dinners and lots more!
What's the first thing you're going to do with your winnings?
I'm going to display them in my house and make all my friends come over to show them off!!!
How long have you been an Elvis fan?
Since I was 5 years old - 36 years! I used to watch my older brothers & sisters dancing to Elvis. Then when I was old enough to get an allowance, I would buy my own Elvis records.
When I ask if there was anything she‘d like to add. This is what she said.
Well, I'd just like to add that I'm incredibly excited to have this honor and I want to thank the club and everyone at Elvis Extravaganza for everything!! Even though I've been a huge Elvis fan for so long, it's not so easy up here in the Northeast to find as many fans as I did when I lived in the South - so I'm really excited to be in touch with all these great Elvis fans now!! I'm a fashion designer and graphic artist and I have always used Elvis as a huge inspiration in my work - I've done tee shirts and fabric using different Elvis images, and I've even taken Velvet Elvis paintings and rugs and made them into jeans. I think it's time to start up more Elvis inspired fashion again!!
