Elvis Convention in Laughlin, Nevada
Jamie Coyne watches as the questions begin. The first question from the audience was what their favorite Southern dishes were. Donna reported fried chicken, then tryed to get out of it by telling us that she, like the rest of us in this day and age, is trying to eat healthier, so changed it to baked chicken and steak. Too late Donna, we heard you admit to fried chicken. Cynthia said she didn’t know if she has any favorite Southern dishes, but remembered eating collard greens and picked pigs feet as a child. Donna‘s answer to one of her favorite Elvis memories was a very interesting story. She told how she remembered watching Wagon Train one day in her room when she was 18. Elvis had came in and sat Indian style in front of her. As they talked seriously about life, he told her three things. 1. Always have faith in God. 2. Believe in yourself and 3. Never, let anyone tell you can't accomplish your goals. Cynthia’s answer to the memory question was the fact that Elvis never quite believed in his fame. She told how one day while doing a scene, he looked at her and said, “You know I should still be driving a truck in Memphis.” When asked what he thought about working with Elvis, Dick Grob explained that one of the best things about it was that working for him never really felt like a job. Cynthia was asked about her very first memory of Elvis, and how she felt when she heard she had a part in his new movie. She explained how the first time she ever heard of him, was while she was attending Hollywood High and heard him sing “Heart Break Hotel” and was naturally overjoyed when she found out she’d be playing opposite him. Cynthia was asked if she ever dated Elvis of course, but said that she was married at the time so didn’t see him socially. She did tell us however, that he use to call her “little speckled pup.” When Cynthia was ask if she ever got together with any of the old bunch, it became a little emotional for her and the audience as she told how, her, Julie Parish and Deborah Wally would call themselves the Three Musketeers. Deborah will truly be missed by all of us. We all loved it when Cynthia told how her kids would take
