It all began a few months ago when a group of people at the Isle of Capri Casino looked through numerous videos of Tribute Artists. They were looking for a select few to compete in Kansas City, Missouri for their very first impersonator contest.
The four competitors were carefully chosen from their performances on the tapes. The groups four choices were Keith Boswell, Keith Henderson, Garyelvis Britt and George Carden. Each of the four were notified to appear in Kansas City on October 17 for the contest. The contest would consist of each Tribute Artist putting on a 15 minute show in front of an audience, as well as a table full of judges. Each performer would be judged on six different things: professionalism, appearance, sound, movement, and overall replication of the King, as well as overall acceptance from the audience. The winner in Kansas City would then go on to the finals contest to be held at the Isle of Capri in Biloxi, Mississippi on January 11-13, 2002. The audience and judges sat with anticipation as the four started their performances. KEITH BOSWELL Keith Boswell was the first one to perform. He made his entrance in a white beaded jumpsuit. Keith makes his home in Kansas City, Missouri, but travels throughout the U.S. for shows and competitions. Keith ended his set with "Can't Help Falling in Love." KEITH HENDERSON Keith Henderson came out in a replica of Elvis' red jumpsuit singing "The Wonder of You."
