Elvis Week 2000

Memphis in August is something every Elvis fan should experience at least once in their lifetime. Well at least that's what I thought before I made the trip to Elvis Week 2000. It only takes a few short hours to realize how wrong that statement is. Being in Memphis, along side thousands of other Elvis fans just like yourself, will only leave you begging for more. When it comes to Elvis Week, once is definitely not enough, and you'll find yourself making plans to return, on the way home.

There are cruises to take, parties to attend, dances, tours of the mansion, trips to Tupelo, movie screenings, live entertainment on both Beale Street and Graceland Crossing. Then of course there's sitting at the Peabody Hotel sipping Pina Coladas while watching the ducks, browsing Lanskeys, and sitting in on all-night jam sessions, visiting Humes High School and joining in on the activities around town with friends and relatives of Elvis. There's just no-end to the wonderful Elvis-things-to-do during Elvis Week in August.

The writings on the wall. Melody and I left our message among the thousands and thousands of fans all over the world. Little notes span the wall and sidewalk in front of Graceland Mansion as far as you can see. Everything from sweet little tidbits, to heartfelt notes and drawings, all stating their love for this great man and his music.

Elvis' presence is felt everywhere on the grounds of Graceland. In the house, as well as on the grounds on the paths and near the pasture. You can almost see him watching you as you walk the grounds he use to love.

The pool sits in silence among the trees and is just one of the incredible experiences to be had during the early morning walk-ups, to Meditation Gardens. As you gaze out across the pool, you can almost hear that wonderful Elvis laughter as he splashes out across the water.

Elvis Presley's Memphis is a full service restaurant and entertainment facility located downtown on the world famous, Beale Street. It's the perfect spot to relax, have a great meal, browse through Elvis memorabilia and enjoy live entertainment.

Elvis, That's the Way It Is Special Edition one-night only exclusive showing of the documentary we all love was enjoyed by all at the Orpheum Theatre on August 12,2000. Proceeds from the event went to benefit the Motion Picture and Television Relief Fund.
