tough and I'd just work at it the next time he came through. Never and no
more, it was all over, the chance to ever see him or hear him sing. All the
good he had done, the love he had shared, all finished in one breath. I
went on and took the test the next day and did well, life only stops for
those who die. I watched all the news and specials on TV, went to an Elvis
double feature at the Drive-in to take part in the
salute to a star that had fallen from the sky of life. I, like the rest of
the world thought that was the end. We were wrong.
Elvis enjoyed the stage and his fans, but was a very private person. He would have probably liked the long line of white limousines because he loved style, but all the hoopla about him and his life and death, although he would have appreciated the love, he would have been embarrassed by it, overwhelmed by all the attention at such a solemn time. That love continued and so has the spirit of Elvis, not in the spiritual way of an angel floating around, but all that was a part of him and his beliefs. His love for people, music for making the world better. They still exist in memory of him. There some very good and some not so talented, and even some only in it for the money people, who continue to present Elvis and his music to the world. There are fan clubs who continue to contribute to many of the charities that Elvis did, and now to many more than he ever could. So he is not really gone, only not here with us in person. Yes, I was only a few hundred miles away from him when he died, even in the same state, but now none of us will ever be able to touch all that was him and his life. I never got to be a part of his presence on stage or off, but God has given me the opportunity to be close by being part of Elvis memories now, by helping to put on Elvis Tribute Show with a very wonderful person, who
