The Sensational Late '60sIn 1965 a delightful little movie by the name of Girl Happy hit theaters everywhere. It was the first of three Elvis would make with cute and perky Shelly Fabares. This one, based on teenagers on vacation in Ft. Lauderdale brought us "Puppet on a String" and "Do the Clam." That same year we thrilled to Elvis as he portrayed a Western ranch hand in Tickle Me. Once again he brought us great songs, this time including "That Dirty, Dirty, Feeling" and "It feels so Right." His third movie in 1965 was Harum Scarum with Mary Ann Mobley. "Crying in the Chapel," "I'm Yours," and "(Such An) Easy Question" were our favorite songs in 1965. The year 1966 produced a musical based on the title song, Frankie and Johhny co-staring Donna Douglas, Harry Morgan and Sue Ane Langdon. Another great movie that year was Paradise Hawaiian Style. In 1967 he made his second movie with Shelly Fabares, Spinout. It included the title song "Spinout," as well as "I'll be Back." His bigt hits in 1967 were "Please Don't Stop Loving Me," "Love Letters," and "All That I Am." We were treated to three movies in 1967. The first two were, Easy Come, Easy Go with Dodie Marshall and Double Trouble with Annette day. His third movie in 1967 Clambake, was also his third with Shelly Fabares. On May 1, 1967 Elvis and Priscilla Beaulieu were married at the Aladdin Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada. In 1967 we were dancing to the tune of "Long Legged Girl" and humming the lines of "In the Ghetto." On February 1, 1968 Lisa Marie Presley was born to Elvis and Priscilla. In 1968 three new movies hit the theaters for our total enjoyment. The first was Speedway featuring Nancy Sinatra, with several "Groovy songs." Second was Stay Away Joe. The third was Live a Little, Love a Little in which his own dog Albert played the part of a Great Dane named "Brutus." On the night of December 3, 1968 Elvis made his first TV appearance in eight long years, the '68 Comeback Special. We were mesmerized, as he performed "Lawdy Miss Clawdy," "Heartbreak Hotel," "Tryin' to get to You," and "One Night with You" as know one else possibly could. He was still undeniably the King of Rock 'n' Roll. Charro and The Trouble with Girls, both hit theaters in 1969.
