J.K. Krien's Elvis Collection ContinuesAnd now more on the exciting world of memorabilia collecting, with J.K. Krein. June: What do your friends think of your collection? JK: One friend of mine is starting a Web sight so people can see my collection. He wants to call it ONE MANS OBSESSION!!! I wonder what he means??? June: What's the most valuable item or items you own, from a collectors point of view ? JK: The most valuable. that's a hard question. My Sun records I really get a rush from. The values are changing all the time. I see auctions everyday, and can't believe what some people pay. My 1956 Elvis Presley mint, RCA VICTROLA is a great find and in working order. These are getting almost impossible to find. I'm glad I purchased it when I did, I couldn't afford it now. I've just added a double platinum RIAA record award to my collection. It was presented to an RCA executive. They're very expensive and very hard to find. I had this hidden for quite awhile before I told my wife about it. She saw it and said, "what is that ?" I said, "that old thing, I've had it for years." June: What are your personal favorites ? JK: I love it all!! June: How many records and CDs do you own ? JK: I now have over 300 LPs. and 200 CD's, and thats not counting 45's and EPs.(EXTENDED PLAYS) I also collect radio shows and all the 45 and CD promos I can get my hands on. I also collect picture discs. June: Where are some of the places you purchase items for your collection ? JK: I purchase from collectors I've known for years and people I can trust. Some on-line auctions, but you do have to be careful and know what you're buying. Do some history searching on it. There was a letter in a fan club I belong too. A person purchased something from an on-line auction. It was sold as original Elvis memorabilia and the word RARE was used along with a photo of the auction item. Any collector that did fact finding on this item would know that it was not original, by the photo and the information given. They were upset at the on-line auction, blaming them that it was not real. I blame the purchaser for not researching it. On most rare items, if its to good to be true its probably not. The information is out there! When I started collecting years ago, I got burned, but thats my fault, shame on me. I learned not to do it again.
