Collingwood Festival Continues
by Jane Stark
I awoke to a call the next morning from Cheryl (Cher) Dwyer, whom I had met in the Elvis Chat Room on the computer. We met, had coffee and then went on our way to prepare for the days events. It was really neat to finally put a face to someone that I had met on computer. Well, the next thing on my agenda was to go to the parade. Arriving for the parade, again there was electricity in air!! All the tribute artists and VIPs were in the parade. It was extremely hot outside but everyone kept a good sense of humor, considering they were roasting to death!! After the parade we went back to the Curling Club where we met some of the tribute artists and took pictures. My camera had not been used that much since I bought it!! Also, of course, I bought some more Elvis memorabilia. The afternoon was spent listening to some of the tribute artists performing. Each and every one of them performed with great intensity, it was a terrific way to spend an afternoon. The evening was fast approaching and so was the concert, "Showcase of the Stars." Again we arrived at the Curling Club for concert, it was packed!!! It was very hot and crowded but this did not seem to dampen anyone's spirits!! As the stars started to perform the intensity and electricity heightened. I could not believe I was there!!! It was out of this world!! The performers were Matt King, Shawn Berry, Anthony Von, Leo Days, Ray Guillimette Jr. and Pete Irwin. All the performers were terrific, remember these were the stars from the previous year. It was an awesome concert. I had never seen so many tribute artists at one time, I could not believe I was there! Unfortunately the night ended and it was time to try and sleep and prepare for the next days events. The next day was the luncheon with the VIPs, Marion Cocke, Joe Esposito, JD Fontana and Darwin Lamm. We listened to real Elvis stories from people that really knew and had spent time with Elvis. It was really touching and interesting. The crowd hung on every word. All the VIPs came to each and every table to speak to all of us and give us all opportunities to take pictures. Again it was wonderful!!!
