Elvis Movies, The Second Batch
11. "Girls! Girls! Girls!" was filmed in 1962 with Stella Stevens and Jeremy Slate. Elvis' character in this movie moonlights as a nightclub singer, in order to purchase a sailboat. It's a cute movie with lots of good music. **** 12. "It Happened at the World's Fair," was filmed in 1963. Joan O'Brien, Gary Lockwood and Yvonne Craig star in this musical comedy. The movie is filmed on location at the 1963 Seattle World's Fair. I give the movie four stars **** but five stars ***** to the cute little boy who kicks Elvis in the shins. You'll find his name, "Way Down," at the bottom of the credits as - Kurt Russell. To bad this cute little guy, never made it in the movies, lol. :) 13. "Fun in Acapulco," was another Elvis movie to hit the screen in the year 1963. Ursula Andress and Alejandro Rey star in this musical comedy as Elvis portrays a former circus performer trying to escape his past. It doesn't sound all that exciting, but believe me, the songs and the movie are outstanding. ***** 14. "Kissin' Cousins" made its appearance in 1964. Arthur O'connell, Jack Albertson and Yvonne Craig star. Taking place in the hills of Tennessee, Elvis plays a dual role. One as an Air Force man and the other as his blond-haired distant relative. *** 15. The explosive, "Viva Las Vegas," was released in 1964. This was definitely one of his best movies. Ann-Margret and Cesare Danova star, as Elvis portrays a race car driver determined to win the Vegas Grand Prix. Elvis and Ann Margaret make an unbeatable pair. A musical comedy with unforgettable songs. "Viva Las Vegas," and "What'd I Say," will keep your feet tapping for hours. Five stars for the movie and the music. This is one of my personal all-time favorites. ***** 16. "Roustabout" co-starred Joan Freeman and Lefif Erickson in 1964. For a totally different setting, Elvis plays a handyman (roustabout) for a traveling carnival, owned by Barbara Stanwyck. Lots of Elvis style rollicking songs. **** 17. "Girl Happy", was also made in 1964 with an all-star cast. Shelly Fabares, Gary Crosby, Jackie Coogan and Mary Ann Mobley play along with Elvis's character, as they take a Ft. Lauderdale Easter vacation. Excellent movie with more great Elvis music. *****
