Elvis Sightings in Boonville, Mo

The list of names at this great competition read like a mini-version of the Images of Elvis contest, straight out of Memphis. I had to remind myself several times over the next few days, that I was in a little town named, Booneville Missouri.

There were so many great tribute artists competing in this event, that it was spread out over a two day period, for a total of four shows. The $5,000 purse, to be split three ways. First place would take home $3,000, second place, $1,500 and third place $500.

The big first place winner would also move onto the competition in Lake Charles, Louisiana for a chance at the, $50,000 winner take all grand prize.

With the fantastic, ExSpence Account Showband in place, everyone's favorite Master of Ceremonies, gorgeous Ronnie Craig, "everyone say yeah baby," stepped out on the stage.

THE PERFORMANCES
(Only a partial list)

JOHN LOOS

John is from Cheyenne Wyoming and has won numerous contests, in Canada, Colorado, Las Vegas and Nashville. He says he's as comfortable in front of 100 people, as he is in front of 18,000. Always a crowd pleaser, John's also a proud member of the Elvis Entertainers Network.

John made his entrance in his Fringe Jumpsuit. I've had the pleasure of seeing John perform a number of times now, and he has a wonderfully strong and powerful voice. And he showed it off to it's fullest on stage at the Isle, with, "You Gave me a Mountain," "You Don't Have to Say you Love Me," and "How Great Thou Art."

GARYELVIS BRITT

From Plant City, Florida, Gary's proudly performed in five different countries

His first set of songs included, "Heartbreak Hotel," "Mean Woman Blues," "Are You Lonesome Tonight," and "Peace in the Valley", which he performed in, black slacks and a pink sport coat, placing him in the finals.

As a finalist he came out in black leather and sang "Jailhouse rock," "It Hurts Me" and "If I Can Dream," bringing the whole audience to their feet.

Gary had won first place at the Isle of Capri Elvis Contest in Kansas City, in both 2001 and 2002, so I've been lucky enough to see his crowd pleasing abilities on several occasions, and he definitely had that old charisma in high-gear tonight.

MATT KING

From Dearborn Michigan, Matt has been performing for audiences as Elvis since the age of 13. He is the Co-Founder of the third largest Elvis Festival in the United States,
