Jennifer Holden's Elvis Help Project© June Moore
Jennifer Holden was born on the 24th of October
1936 in Chicago, Illinois. Having
a father from England and a mother
from Canada, she spent most of her
childhood in Canada and
Chicago. It was there that
she learned to play piano and dance
ballet. Early in life Jennifer became interested
in music and movies.
After having her scenes in a movie with Robert Thorpe cut out, the director, Richard Thorpe, wanted to have her in his next movie, which happened to be Jailhouse Rock starring Elvis Presley. In Jailhouse RockJennifer plays a movie star by the name of Sherry Wilson. Before the making of the love scene she was a little jittery and adds that she thinks that Elvis was an underrated actor with talent, and a fantastic singer. She says he was "Very Real". That love scene between Elvis and Jennifer in Jailhouse Rock stands as probably THE most memorable of all of Elvis' kissing scenes. Who could forget her laying on the couch as Elvis kisses her and asks "How´s your headache?" It's then that Jennifer delivered those famous words "I´m coming all un-glued." Weren't we all!!!! Jennifer has strong memories from the time she spent with Elvis and the making of the movie. She summed up the answer to the question, on what she thought of Elvis in two words, "Very sexy!" During the making of the movie Elvis and Jennifer got together several times, but after he left for the army she says they lost contact with each other. Jennifer also had a very good relationship with one of the other stars of the movie, Judy Tyler. Judy was, as we all know, killed in a tragic car accident shortly after the movie was completed. Asked to tell a story that's not very well known or ever been published she tells the following: "Elvis saved my life." After the pool scene, we went in our dressing rooms, I unplugged the heater in my room and the electric cord broke, flames were shooting out of the wall plug and set the room on fire. I was screaming: "Elvis, Elvis...", he called for help and came back with the set man. I had locked the door when I went in so couldn't get out. Together they broke down the door When asked what her favorite movie and songs by Elvis were, she replied Jailhouse Rock, in both cases naturally. After Jailhouse Rock she made two movies, both in 1958, Gang Warand Buchanan
