Growing Older Can Be Great

*We're celebrating our 50th wedding anniversary.

*Asking for help doesn't make me dependent.

In addition, I found a very touching page about retirement called Retired Life Fun. It is a page created by a lovely couple who went through some difficult times before retirement and now have a "recipe" for a positive retirement attitude. I was deeply touched by this web site.

Please feel free to let me know if you have a reason why growing older has been great for you. I am creating my own list of what my visitors feel about this subject. Just fill out the form and I will add you to the list. If you are a caregiver and add to my list, please let me know. I would love to include a section on how Caregivers feel.

So, how does this help me if I am a caregiver?

Taking care of yourself is extremly important for your health. Look at the good things that may come with caregiving, such as how you are making your loved one more comfortable or how your loved one is responding to you since a week before. Just because you are caring for someone does not mean that you cannot enjoy yourself. Your time may be limited if you are the only one assisting your loved one. Go for a walk with a friend. If you are a part of a support group, ask the members to go for lunch.
