5. Ask for help. Don't be afraid to ask others for help. Being a caregiver can be a full time job. If help is not available through your family and/or friends, seek assistance in your community.
The following list may assist new caregivers in preparing their homes for their loved ones. 1. Safety proof your bathroom to fit your loved one's needs. Hand rails, slip mats, and adjustable shower heads may be helpful. 2. If you administer your loved one's medications everyday, invest in a weekly pill holder. This way, you won't have to fight with bottle tops everyday, especially if your loved one has many pills. It will also make it easier for you to remember which pills were taken. 3. Stock up on easy to prepare meals, especially if you also work. Cook extra and freeze the rest for another day.
