7. Try to make the bath room as accessible as possible. If needed, provide railings for the toilet to make it easier for your loved one to get up and down. Non-slip mats are also helpful especially when just waking up and feeling groggy.

8. To limit the possibility of Bowel Incontinence, ensure that your loved one is on a well balanced diet.

9. Notice any habits that be forming such as whenever your loved one eats bran flakes, he/she has an accident. This may occur because of the high fiber content in the bran flakes. If you notice a pattern, you can simply switch foods to make sure that that fiber is not the cause of the Bowel Incontinence.

10. You can also take your loved one to his/her physician to see if something can be done about his/her incontinence. The National Institute of Diabetes & Digestive & Kidneys Diseases has a wonderful page concerning visiting the doctor.
