Summer Fun with Elderly
This is also known as putt-putt golf. You don't have to worry about keeping score. The idea is to get out and do something fun. If your loved one has a dementing illness, they may not be able to do this as there is a lot of standing and some bending involved. Park Time Have you ever had the urge to go to the park and play? Go for a swing with your loved one. Just don't push too high. Icecream and a Walk Go to your favorite ice cream shop and then go for a walk along the beach. Or, go somewhere that serves your favorite cold drinks. Starbucks has some excellent choices this season. If you don't have a Starbuck's, look for a Barney's. Iced Tea and Games Go outside, sit at the table, and play some card games while drinking iced tea. You can also read, write, or just talk. Enjoy the warmth and one another's company. Zoo Time Visit a zoo during the weekend. If you have little ones, make it a family gathering. Have Lunch Have lunch at a place that allows you to eat outside. Make sure there is plenty of shade. Have a great summer! If you would like to share your summer activities with others, please begin a discussion below.
