Topsy Turvy and Other News

Hello everyone. It's summer and I hope you are all finding time away from your computers to enjoy the weather. However, when the weather is not so enjoyable be it hot, humid, or rainy, come check out my topic for the latest about children's educational software.

Now that I've finally figured out how, I've added some book recommendations. Visit often as I will be adding more books.

I had originally planned to write an article featuring my links. However while preparing to write it, I discovered many software publishers have changed hands. The Learning Company is Broderbund. Edmark is Riverdeep. Humongous is Fun Kids Games, and Kowledge Adventure can now be found under Vivendi Universal Games. That's the way it goes in the software publishing business I suppose, but I was a bit taken aback as I thought I had just updated all my links a couple of months ago. There were a few publishers I could no longer find, so they have been deleted. I was delighted to find some of my favorite smaller publishers like CD Garden and Ohio Interactive are still alive and well.

I also found that at one of my shopping sites is no longer in existence. Over the next few weeks I will be on the lookout for more shopping and bargain sites to add.

I will wait and write an article featuring my links after I have a chance to finish checking on and updating the rest of them.

I have added a new link to my Top Five Sites. I found out about this from a comment left on my topic. This site is called Edutaining Kids http://www.edutainingkids.com/ Be sure to check it out. They include information about books, music, toys, video games, and videos in addition to software reviews. While you are visiting be sure to check out their What's Brand New Section.

We have added one of the titles mentioned in this section to our collection. I'm a big Peanuts fan, so I think I bought Peanuts: Where's the Blanket, Charlie Brown? more for myself than my 6 and 3 year olds. This title is produced by Tivola. It's a good program, but I did find that my six year old who is fairly computer savvy had a difficult time figuring it out. I'm not sure today's kids are that familiar with the Peanuts gang, but for parents like me who are fans, this software is a great choice to sit down and share with your kids. I'll bring you a full review of this title later.
