Happy Holidays

Hello readers!

For the past few weeks I've been having computer problems and have been unable to do a lot of work on this topic. Fortunately, I had several reviews lined up, so this topic has been on auto-pilot lately.

With the holidays upon us, I am going to take a break and not post a new article until January. At that time I will be switching back to a bi-weekly schedule.

Most of my reviews have been published on Tutor House, a web site which is no longer operating. My original intent was to move those reviews to this site, but Suite 101 no longer accepts previously published material. So I am in the process of rewriting, revamping, and reorganizing old articles because the links to my reviews are no longer available. I apologize for the inconvience, but I felt there was enough valid information in the old articles to keep them alive, instead of simply deleting them. With an ill computer, two small boys, and the holidays rapidly approaching------well, I haven't gotten as much done as I would like. Please be patient.

As a Holiday gift to you I leave these links and commentary on Christmas and religious educational software for kids. Have a wonderful Holiday Season, and expect fresh, new material from this site in January.

Polar Express is an older software program. It's basically a book on CD-Rom. The graphics and sound are extraordinary, but there aren't any activities or games. Check out my bargain links as this CD-Rom can be found on many of those sites. I most recently saw it for sale on Arcamax. Look for reviews of Polar Express at http://www.worldvillage.com/wv/school/ht... and http://www.kidsdomain.com/review/kdr/pol... If you want to see a beautiful picture book brought to life on the computer screen, this software might be for you.

For the very young in your family, try Fisher Price Little People Christmas Activity Center. We received this bundled with some other Fisher Price software a couple of years ago. It is probably easiest to find this at bargain sites or used. E-bay is a great source for used or discontinued software. It is simple but fun. My five year old still enjoys it. Read full reviews at http://www.kidsdomain.com/review/kdr/fpc... and http://www.geocities.com/~reviewcorner/f...

Another program for the preschool set is Busytown Best Christmas Ever. You can read more about it at http://www.geocities.com/~reviewcorner/f... I did have some problems with this program running smoothly on my iMac, but I have seen no reports of problems from Windows users.
