Hello. This week's article will be a hodge-podge. First, I want to let you know what to expect in coming weeks. I am going to line-up several reviews for the rest of the holiday period, and in the meantime I will be working on new reviews and updating links. Some of you may have noticed that I have numerous links to Tutorhouse throughout my articles, and since that site is no longer available I have many changes to make. I am also still hunting and testing out shareware/freeware. Three new titles from Ohio Interactive are on their way, and I have many other titles here yet to review. Now with the holidays approaching you may be wondering what new software is available. This week I bring you links to reviews of many of the newest releases. All featured titles are compatible with both Windows and Mac. The long awaited new Zoombini adventure is here! For a review go to http://school.discovery.com/parents/revi... As you can see the Review Corner has given it a top rating. Another excellent title for ages 9 and up is Zoog Genius: Math, Science, & Technology. Find the review here http://school.discovery.com/parents/revi... Carmen SanDiego has also made a comeback. See a review of Where in The World is Carmen SanDiego 2002 version here http://www.thereviewzone.com/carmensandi... This software is for ages 8 to 12. Here are two fairly recent releases from the Microsoft Magic School Bus Series. At long last, these excellent educational CD-Roms are Mac compatible. Both of these titles are suitable for ages 6 to 10. Here is the review of The Magic School Bus Discovers Flight Activity Center http://school.discovery.com/parents/revi... And here is the review of The Magic School Bus Whales and Dolphins Activity Center http://school.discovery.com/parents/revi... We recently purchased Fisher Price's Rescue Heroes Meteor Madness. This is more arcade than academic; however, children do get a lot of practice working the mouse and arrow keys. Also, while playing the game they pick up a lot of safety, environment, and nature tips. This software is Mac compatible and can be found for about $20. This software is designed for ages 4 to 7, and it does have three different playing levels. I will bring you a full review of this title later whenever my five year old gives me a chance to play it. In the meantime I recommend it as a holiday treat especially if your youngster enjoy the Rescue Heroes line of toys.
