Best Early Learning Math Programs©
First let me say that I am cautious about labeling anything "the best." I have learned in two years of software reviewing that one reviewer's idea of "best" is another's idea of "blecch." Tastes and needs vary.
Here I will give you some links to various "best" math programs. Browse, read, and discover which of the "best" is best for your children. I will start with Stuart Little: His Adventures in Numberland. This is a revamped version of Piggy in Numberland. Both Piggy and Stuart are Windows only programs. Being a Mac user, I haven't tested or reviewed these myself, but have heard nothing but good things about both awarding winning programs. Find out more about this software title at http://www.supermentor.com/stuart/ . Reviews of Stuart Little can be found at The Review Corner http://school.discovery.com/parents/revi... and at The Learning Village http://www.learningvillage.com/html/rStu... I Hate/Love Math by DK publishing is geared toward 6 to 11 year olds. Check out the review at http://www.kidsdomain.com/review/kdr/ilo... Math Quest With Aladdin by Disney Interactive is an older program, but is still a winner. It is designed for children ages 6 to 9, but my 5 year old can do some of the activities on his own. He's absorbed by the quest story line, and pays attention to the activities even if I have to help him with some of the more difficult concepts. I figure he is having fun, and some math is trickling into his brain. I love the mix of Disney characters with sound mathematical concepts. This is a favorite at our house that we expect to use for many years. Read the Super Kids review at http://www.superkids.com/aweb/pages/revi... Since this is an older title, you can probably find it a good price. One of my favorite math programs for ages 3 to 6 is Richard Scarry's Best Math Program Ever. Children complete activities in five different areas to earn parts to help Mr. Fixit finish his amazing Math machine. One of the things I like best about this title is that it ties math in with other subject areas such as science and writing. Kids Domain was impressed with it also, and they gave it a Gold Award. Read the review at http://www.kidsdomain.com/review/kdr/bes... is also an older title which can be found at a lower price. I recently purchased How Many Bugs In a Box from Unbeatable Deals (see my Best Bargain Site LInks). This is an oldie, but absolutely a goodie. Both my five year old and my two year old loved this one, and so did I. It includes some very hummable tunes. Go to http://www.kidsdomain.com/review/kdr/how... for a review. Go To Page: 1 2
