New Online Software Shopping Sites

I can help. I have found many new software shopping sites. I will be adding these to my links, but I wanted to let you know about them now.

First check out 5DollarSoftware at http://www.5DollarSoftware.com/kidseduca... Yes, everything is $5. Yes, most are older titles, but there are many good bargains to be found here. I haven't ordered from them yet, but I definitely have this site bookmarked. When you are buying older software, always check system requirements, to make sure the program is compatible with your system. Shipping here is a good deal ---- $3 flat rate.

I did order from Nothing But Software http://www.nothingbutsoftware.com before Christmas. I was looking for math software for my second grader. Here I found Schoolhouse Rock Math and Achieve! Math and Science Grades 1-3 (review to follow). The prices here are fair, many titles come in the retail boxes making them suitable for gift giving, and shipping and handling is a flat $4.95 standard rate.

I also discovered the Brighter Child site recently. Go to http://www.brighterchild.com/ You can find the new Cyberchase titles here--I bought one of these recently and its on my list to review. Other titles include the Caillou series, Zoboomafoo, and Jay Jay. Spy Kids Learning Adventures are coming next month. They list four titles. It isn't clear yet if this are Mac compatible or not, but I'll keep you posted. This summer there will be a PBS kids series which will include software, workbooks, flashcards, and more. This site offers free shipping on orders of $25 or more.

Another site I watch, but haven't bought from yet is Buy.com http://www.buy.com Some titles are marked free shipping. For all other software there is a $3.99 base fee and a .99 charge per item.

I also have been browsing the Scholastic site often. I have found many goodies here including hard to find titles like Type to Learn, Jr. by Sunbuddies. Shipping and handling is reasonable. Broderbund has quite a selection with many new titles. The new Math Missions titles are on my short list to buy. Get on Broderbund's mailing list. They often run free shipping and dollars off specials. Find Broderbund at http://www.broderbund.com

Online shopping sites come and go, but these are some of the best of my new discoveries. Although I haven't ordered from all of them, I chose to highlight them in this column based on price, selection, and shipping costs.
