StudyWeb

StudyWeb (http://www.studyweb.com/) is an extensive collection of resources for educational use, and has been recognized with numerous awards - including a semi-final United States GII Award, while also being nominated as a "Top 5% of all web sites" by Point.

Basically, StudyWeb is an extremly comprehensive searchable collection of research quality web-sites. It is designed to provide information to people, as quickly and easily as possible, on hundreds of different topics. This web page is very helpful for people who are looking for a report topic, or background material for a story or research for a paper, or to just out of interesr for a favorite topic.

The web-pages are sorted by categories, which are further broken down into sub-categories, containing links to the web-pages themselves. Each web-page is given a short description, along with a "Visual Content" rating, and a "Approximate Grade Level". The grade level is very helpful in determining the scope and intensity of the web-page, giving browsers the opportunity to chose the appropriate page they need, while not being bored or baffled by web-pages that are too simple or too complicated.

StudyWeb has numerous other features that enhance its usefulness. One feature is the link on each category page that searches DejaNews, a web-based news server, for information on that topic. It also boasts an "Educational Resources" section, which has a list of "Educational Products & Services for Students, Teachers, Parents, and School Administrators", along with a software store, and a very informative "The Classroom Internet" section, which has information for teachers and students about the Internet, how to access it, and how it can be used educationally - for both teaching and researching. It also has a Homework Help Online section - useful for those students that may have a problem with their homework.

From Agriculture to Transportation, the web pages that StudyWeb has collated, create an imensly powerful educational and research site, a site that everyone should recognize the potential of. I strongly urge you to check it out!

'til next month :-)
