Still Looking To Get RichIn case you haven't been listening to the news, a jury in the Jenny Jones lawsuit awarded the family of Scott Amedure $25 million because they think the Jenny Jones Show was partly responsible for his death. Did Jenny Jones shoot this guy herself? No. Did he get cancer from drinking studio water? No. While he was in the studio did part of the roof fall on him and kill him? No. A guest who was on the show later shot him because he embarrassed this guest. This guest who was supposedly a friend. (With friends like that...) Jonathan Schmitz was embarrassed because Scott Amedure said that he liked him. This idiot picked up a gun (no Jenny Jones didn't order him to) and went of on his own accord and shot Amedure because he was embarrassed. Is it just me? Does anyone else realize how ridiculous this sounds? Obviously 12 people on the jury don't think it's ridiculous. They awarded the victim's family $25 million. God forbid we should take responsibility for our actions anymore. The killers at Columbine High School were victims of TV, Hollywood, the Internet, bad parenting, video games, etc. Very few people have flat out blamed the shooters for being evil. We sue people with deep pockets because they have money and we want it. If Schmitz had gone out and shot Amedure without "help" from the Jenny Jones Show would they have sued? If there hadn't been an easy target with deep pockets nearby they wouldn't have bothered. We sue gun manufacturers because people get shot by guns? Why aren't we suing the people who use these guns to shoot others? Because they don't have any money! The outcome of this lawsuit is dangerous in a number of ways. First of all it gives others an incentive to shirk their personal responsibility. Many people supported the Jones verdict. This poor guy was practically forced to kill this jerk who embarrassed him. I mean how dare he make his homosexual feelings known in public?! Hell, he deserved to be shot! What if he had been a black or Asian woman? How about an obese woman? A one eyed woman like the character on Futurama? Would the jury and the public have cheered on the idea that the show was at fault? "That fat chick humiliated him! I can see why he shot her!" Of course not! If he had been a she and a black woman we'd be screaming for his racist head. We'd have him sitting in the electric chair as fast as we possibly could. We'd be horrified at the fact the victim's family dared blame Jenny Jones for this racist's attitude. Are we such a homophobic society that we excuse people for killing gays?
