When Time Sneaks Away From You

Don't you love it when God gently taps on your shoulder to make a point? It seems that God has clearly been doing that to me lately. In talking with some of my good friends, it would seem that God is passing on a similar message to them too.

As SAHM's it's so easy for our time to sneak away on us. We volunteer for this, or that. We may attend Bible studies, Sunday School and various church activities. Then our children may have sports, music lessons, dance lessons or academic activities. We deal with the house, the cooking, the cleaning, the laundry and other various household tasks.

It becomes clear very quickly how our time sneaks away from us. At what cost?

For many, that cost is their time with God. Time to pray and meditate and come into His presence. When I was praying about this God lead me to a scripture and I feel confident that it is this scripture that I'm supposed to present with this message.

Let us not love [merely] in theory or in speech but in deed and in truth - in practice and in sincerity - 1 John 3:18AMP

God doesn't want us to love anyone, but especially Him, in theory only. What good does it do to be a Christian SAHM in theory only? None at all.

The point is that as Christian SAHM's we are setting examples for our children. Letting life get away from us by being overfilled with activities and running around is not setting a good example.

I don't know about anyone else in the world, but when I find myself constantly running here, there and everywhere, I get grumpy. When I get grumpy, I get short-tempered and snappy. Who am I most likely going to snap at? My children. Am I being a good mother on that day, in that minute? Mmmmm....probably not because God immediately sends me to Galations 5:22 where it clearly states just a few of the area where I'm obviously lacking in that moment.

The point is that as Christian mother's one of our main jobs is to be a good parent and if we allow all of our time to be so filled with other activities, that it's always rush, rush, rush, what kind of mom are we really going to be.

We have so much hope as Christian mother's and there is so much inspiration in the Bible. Through Jesus, God can enable us to do amazing things. He can literally lift us up and give us a second wind of energy, when we're falling over and still have work left to do. He can bear our burdens. He can love us when it feels like nobody else does. He can love through us, during those times when we don't feel love towards someone else.
