For my subscribed readers finding Eclectic Homemaking steeped so deeply in Christianity may have you wondering what's going on. I want to explain that and be clear about my motivations and my goals. I have never hidden the fact that I am a Christian. In fact, many months ago I skimmed the top of the changes going on in my heart and in my household by discussing some of my goals for this year. Little did I realize the full extent of those changes.
I am the Spiritual Leader in our household and for two and a half years my children and I have been looking for the right church. I knew from my prayers that where we were visiting was ok for the moment. It was at least some place we could go and hear God's word preached. I did try to get involved there, but no matter what, it never quite worked out. We also visited several other churches during this time as well. I also felt God's hand on my heart in a way that I had never experienced before. I knew He was at work. I knew He would work all things to His purpose and good. I trusted whole-heartedly in that. God delivered, but then He always does. He put us at a church that we used to be members of many years ago. What's ironic is that I knew full-well that's the kind of church I was looking for, but I was very resistant to go back to that specific church for several reasons. I prayed about it and listened intently for God's directions. The insistence of my children to go to this church was a pretty clear indication that we had to, at the very least, give it a try. The first Sunday morning as we walked through the doors my oldest son and I both felt as if we were home. We went for several weeks before going to a Sunday School class or doing any of the activities. It was several weeks before family members who attend the church even realized we were there. We would slip in quietly in the balcony and slip back out quietly afterwards. But, all the while, I was in prayer.
