Welcome 2004Included in that financial strap-down is, of course, the grocery bill itself. I used to clip coupons, price match and go to different grocery stores to get better prices. Hello Miss Eclectic Homemaker, what happened to that? Laziness. Plain and simple. I would have rather run to the grocery, throw it in the cart and move on to the next errand or housekeeping chore. I only went to the grocery on the weekends so I felt I only had 48 hours to fit all this stuff in. I can only say to that "Thank you Lord!" that I don't have to do that anymore. As I've been described by someone very close and dear to me, I'm a "hearth and home woman". I was more miserable than I can put into words working full-time away from my home and kids. In fact, that same person once told me that I was the most miserable person in the world, and considering what that person has been through, those were powerful words. It's ironic that these resolutions had been in my thoughts for so long. I had finally made the decision to quit my job. I planned on giving my notice on the last paycheck day before Christmas. I was afraid that once I gave my notice they would tell me not to worry about my two weeks and we needed the money for Christmas. My former boss took that decision out of my hands and made it for me. He really didn't have a choice. The company is having financial difficulties and I was a pretty expensive employee to have. My role was important, but one that could be divided among others in the company so my decision was made for me. The only problem was that it seriously cut into our Christmas money. I have four kids and this is a pretty costly time of year for us. I honestly had no idea how we would provide Christmas. I simply said my prayers and praised God for what had happened and asked that I not feel anger towards my old boss, whom I also considered a friend for affecting my kids Christmas. Money that we didn't know was owed to us appeared in our mailbox. Out of the blue and without warning. Not once, but twice. When I said my prayer of thanks for this miraculous turn of events I believe I was answered
