3.0 Set-Up Your Online Salesperson: Autoresponder
Remember I asked you earlier to prepare a few excerpts from your work? Set aside five chapters or sections that you will give out for free. Save each section in its own text file, and remember to type at the bottom of each text file you offer or your sales pitch for the full version of your ebook.It might go something like this: "Did you enjoy the above excerpt from my ebook "[Insert title here]"? You'll receive another one in a couple of days. In the meantime, if you get [insert product of affiliate program] via this link [insert your affiliate link, the one that earns you a commission], I'll send you a copy of my entire ebook..."
In this example, your prospect will receive useful or entertaining excerpts from your ebook over about ten days. Since you have five excerpts, they will also see your sales pitch five times (unless they didn't like the excerpts and chose to stop receiving the remaining ones).
Most of the things I've read online say that a person exposed to a message 7 to 9 times will eventually act on that message. Based on my experience with a $40 product, however, most sales occur after the second message. Otherwise, the sale does not happen at all.
Fortunately for you, you won't go insane remembering whether this or that person has received excerpt #1 or #3. Simply use autoresponders.
