How To Easily Put Your Ebooks on the Web

You're a writer and you don't have time (yet) to learn how to make a web page. Still, you have a manuscript that you wish to quickly publish into an ebook, without having to invest weeks of your time learning how to build a web site.

Here's the quick guide to getting your ebook online without having to learn HTML (yet):

1. Vist MightyWords (http://www.mightywords.com/) - If you used MS Word to write your manuscript, you can send that file and it will be converted into a PDF (a file which can be read by either Windows or Macintosh users who have the free Adobe Acrobat Reader). Look for the Publishing eMatter link on the site.

You'll earn around 50% in royalties, though you will spend $1 a month for the space your ebook will occupy on their hard disk.

One nice thing about ebooks at Mightywords is that they are copy-protected -- they can't be easily passed around from friend to friend. If someone tries to read an unpaid version, the Mightywords system will detect it and require an online payment first.

Hmmm. Unhappy about the "low" 50% royalty? It's not really such a paltry sum considering the use of their hardware and some of their marketing "efforts." In the real world, you'll probably be happy with a 15% royalty.

But if you really still find 50% quite low, you can also...

2. Visit Booklocker (http://www.booklocker.com/) - The last time I checked, you can earn 70% of the selling price of your ebook. It's quite popular, though, so Booklocker has gotten quite selective about the types of submissions and lately tend to favor non-fiction titles.

These are some of the cost-effective ways you can get your manuscript converted into ebooks. You don't have to worry about processing credit card payments online -- they will do it for you. You don't have to think about how to get the ebook to your readers, these ebook publishers have put up a system in place.

All you need to focus on (at this point in time) is writing your book, sending it to these epublishers, and waiting for your monthly check... under ideal conditions.

Remember, however, that as in most businesses, you either have lots of time or money. And there's the rub.

While the above approaches don't cost much money, they will eat up your time. Popular services attract so many people so it will take a few weeks before Booklocker gets back to you regarding the status of your ebook.
