Proud to be an AmericanWe fight amongst ourselves in silly race, class, and political struggles, yet, should an outsider (a terrorist), attempt to separate us, they will fail. For I may fight with my brother, but everyone else had better leave him alone. We are a country, foremost, yet, family, when times are tough. And anyone and everyone knows that family will always stick together. We are Americans, and we are free. Who are we? We like hotdogs in the summer, and hot chocolate when it’s cold. We like baseball and casinos, and we like to dance the night away. We are the ultimate survivors. We hate oppression, and we love Lucy, we eat popcorn in the movies, and ice cream in the Mall. We shop at antique stores, and auctions, second hand stores, and supermarkets. We play twister and little league, and we believe that all men were created equal. We would like to teach the world to sing, and we believe that people everywhere just want to be free. We watch Oprah because she makes us feel good, and Jerry Springer because he makes us feel thankful. We like to work in our gardens, play with our children and eat at McDonald's. We wear Nike and Reebok, and we have too many cigarette advertisements. We fight both for and against the death penalty, and we like to eat, swear and drink too much. We are against drunk drivers, yet love a good party, and we are always there for a friend. So, when put together, what does this make us? Human beings, with hearts, minds, souls and fears. We are people who accept our weaknesses, and who work together to change the world. We are people who never give up, and who never give in. We are people who know how to work hard, and how to play fair. We are people who laugh at our funniest home movies, and who cry at the birth of a baby or the death of a loved one. We are people who know we are blessed and lucky to live in the greatest country in the world. We are Americans, and we will never forget September 11, 2001.
