Put your Advice where your mouth isHumans are the world's best critics and advice givers. We love to suggest, advise, guide, help, teach, instruct, and lead. Often we are very good at helping others, especially in areas that we have the most experience. I like to believe that I help others with my body image articles, and my outlook on life, and “eating for life”. I have been involved in this body battle for over twenty years and know of which I speak. However, I am also human. There are times when I do not listen to myself as well as I expect others to listen to me. I am so human it hurts. So. What am I getting ready to confess to? Big ol’ all you can eat buffets? Saturday night BBQ with ribs and EXTRA sauce? Maybe even cake, cookies and pie! (WOW, not quite Jerry Springer, but this is getting exciting! Maybe someone will get hit with a frying pan!) Actually, I am not intending to admit to anything. I swear, I did not have a relationship with that cheesecake! My light hearted humor is being directed at myself this week, as, actually, it is most weeks. I like to look at my shortcomings, and smile. It beats the hell out of crying everyday. So, the question is do I take my own advice? Yes, absolutely. Well, sometimes, ok, usually, but, you know how it is. (Is this being recorded?) I like to eat. I eat because I am stressed. I eat when I am sad / happy / afraid / lonely / depressed and mad. Especially mad. So, just who do I think I am to give advice to hundreds when I can not keep my own hands off the cookie jar? Well, to be honest, I think I’m the perfect person. Who knows about the struggle with weight and overeating issues, if they are not now, or have not ever, over eaten or had weight problems? Should a woman who has weighed 115 her whole life tell you how to get in touch with your inner fat child, or should someone who has weighed ...well, let’s just safely say more than 115. Since birth. I reach into my soul, and try to learn the reason and the rhyme as to why I use food to feel better. Why food has control over my heart and soul. I reach into my heart and try to understand how others are suffering and confused as I am.
