Life in the Fast Lane

What you ate today is important, but, where you ate it is even more important.

As life gets more and more hectic, drive in movies having been replaced with drive in pharmacies and drive in meals, Americans are eating more on the run than ever before.

Where did you eat breakfast? Lunch? What about dinner? Most adults eat atleast one meal a day in their car. Usually, while driving.

And scientists are studying why Americans are so fat and so stressed? The answer seems obvious to me.

When I was growing up breakfast and dinner was always a family event. It was not always polite, perfect and in line with the laws of etiquette, but it was always together. No one stood up, no one watched TV, no one decided to skip a meal, and no one said I've already eaten. The dinner table was always the place for comfort, warmth, and good, home-style, cooking. Now, at my house, at least, it's a time for rush, homework lectures, and microwavable cuisine.

And it's usually eaten in front of a TV, sometimes standing, sometimes not.

How truly sad for our country, our communities, and our children.

I've got to run now, my lunch break is over.
