Are your kids making you fat?

Kids change everything. They change the way you dress, the way you think, the way you talk, the way your drive, the way you work, the way you interact with your husband, the relationship you have with your parents, the intimate moments, and, yes, they change the way you eat.

There are many reasons your eating habits change, including stress, opportunity, time constraints, and genetics. Genetics? Yes, we'll get to that one!

Stress Children change your life in such a profound way. Now you are responsible for not only yourself, and your spouse, but a new, vulnerable, innocent life, as well. This responsibility can be overwhelming and stressful. How will you work and care for your child...who can you trust? Can you afford quality childcare? Can you afford the insurance to protect your child? Will your child be sick or injured, what will you do if something happens? Will my baby ever quit crying all night? The loss of sleep, energy and resources can be devastating.

Oppportunity Now that your child is a little bigger, and ready for the McDonald Playland, you have a whole new set of problems. Don't those cute little chicken mcnuggets look tasty? WOW! Can you believe your little angel only ate 2 of those 6 little cuties? Now what...waste not....oh well....and, so they say, the battle was lost! Wanting to not "waste" money or food is a valid concern, however, eating all of the food yourself isn't saving money and it isn't saving lives. It's only making you heavier.

Time Constraints Before baby made three or four or five...you had all the time in the world. You could do your nails, see a movie, take a nap, eat out or spend a "night on the town". Now your days are filled with rushing, tiring, boring, routines. Your one true pleasure in life is eating. OH NO! This is a big time no-no! Just because baby has changed your life doesn't mean your life is over! It's only changed. Play with your child, take your baby with you on those fun trips like eating out...I know, I know, we're getting back to stress now...but, you may be suprised at how well your child can adapt if trained. Hire a babysitter, if possible, or ask a family member or friend to trade a night with you so that, once in a while, you can still enjoy that "night on the town". Food should never be anyone's reason to live.
