Good Enough is Cynthia Bitter's touching account of her dangerous battle with anorexia and bulimia. Hers is a detailed account not only of the fight with her eating disorders, but also the long fought-for recovery. The author writes "Throughout the dark years of my struggle with anorexia and bulimia, I was convinced that the battle would never end, and that I would never get better. In the sharing of this story, I want to spread the message of hope to all: an eating disorder does not have to be a life-long battle nor a death sentence." Inner Hunger: A Young Woman's Struggle through Anorexia & Bulimia by Marianne Apostolides, details the author's 10-year battle with anorexia and bulimia. Through her recovery, she suggests that those who suffer from anorexia and bulmia need to review the deeper causes of their disorder. Apostolides writes: "Inner Hunger combines an honest and non-judgmental account of my decade-long struggle through anorexia and bulimia with specific, well-researched advice about dealing with an eating disorder." My Name is Caroline by Caroline Adams-Miller is an inspiring detail of a young woman's recovery from bulimia. Amazon.com calls it "A must read for all victims - and their families - who suffer the agonies of bulimia and other related eating disorders." Also, Kirkus Reviews says that it is "An important, affirmative book for overeaters who've lost hope of a cure." The Long Road Back: A Survivor's Guide to Anorexia is the much anticipated biography by Judy Sargent. Sargent has triumphed over her anorexia, after struggling with it for over 10 years and 26 hospitalizations. It is expected to be released in May of 1999. Judy Sargent has an interesting webpage with more information about herself and her upcoming book. She also has a good selection of links to check out.
