In the end I gained 50 pounds. (How's THAT for not restricting!!) They weighed me when I checked into the hospital, and when they told me my weight I realized that I weighed a full 100 pounds more than I did at my thinnest anorexic weight. Whew! But, the end result was fantastic. My son Jake was born in January. He was a big boy, weighing in at 9 lbs. 10oz. He is by far the BEST thing I ever did, and it turned out that all my fears about never getting rid of the weight were unfounded. By six months post partum, I had lost ALL my baby weight, plus a few extra pounds (and, I'm still in my "healthy" range). I lost it all in a healthy manner... mostly. I had a few bad days here and there, but for the most part I lost it healthily. I've come across a few helpful sites which have information specifically about this difficult situation. Something-Fishy has information about EATING DISORDER & PREGNANCY ISSUES. ANRED has a helpful page which answers many questions about EATING DISORDERS & PREGNANCY. Also, sharing your feelings with other who are going through the same thing can be helpful. ParentsPlace has a PREGNANT WITH AN EATING DISORDER DISCUSSION BOARD. Being pregnant with an eating disorder will be a challenging situation. Let your doctor know your history. He or she will help you with proper pre-natal care. Your doctor may also give you assistance with a healthy nutrition plan, which may be a very good idea if you have lost touch with what HEALTHY eating is. Follow your doctor's advice. Take your pre-natal vitamins. If your doctor gives you the OK to exercise, go ahead and do it...but not to excesss. Be good to yourself, and to your unborn child.
