I was at the International Beverage Festival held in town the other day on...you guessed it...Suite101 credentials. They wanted mmy esteemed views, being a Suite101 CE for my topic. I'm glad I'm with Suite! The drinks there were interesting. It was the hot drinks that somewhat caught my fancy. I never knew that such variety existed in hot beverages.
Of course, do not ask me where the recipes for the following drinks that were there for the tasting came from. They were snitched! Calypso CoffeeIngredients 4 cups milk Method Heat 1/3 cup water to a boil (alomst). Add milk, coffeee and sugar Heat again for a minute on low flame. Serve hot with whipped cream and nutmeg sprinkled on it. Hot Rum LemonadeIngredients 3/4 cup water Method Do not boil this drink. Warm all the ingredients in your microwave for 2 minutes. Drink. Japanese PunchIngredients 1/2 pint tea Method This one is a bit of cheating. You have to heat the drink to make it, but serve it chilled. It was so unusual and tasty that I just had to include it as well. Heat the tea, cloves, cinnamon, ginger and mint for 3 minutes on a high flame. Leave it to cool. Strain the tea and add the lemonade. Stir it in. Serve the puch chilled. It is very refreshing and you can explore the whole 6000 sq. ft. of International Beverage Festival all over again.
