I never thought I'd see the day! You know I'm an avid fan of Coca Cola products, especially Cherry Coke. I received, in my mailbox a listing of recipes from a friend who heard that I was writing with Suite101.
He said he'd found something "to my liking" and boy, was he right. Here are some recipes made with...yep, that's right...Coca Cola as a chief ingredient. I think it's the soda in the drink that plays a key role in the recipe, but that oh-so-subtle flavor of coke sure tingles. Also, instead of the regular, I used my all-time favorite Cherry Coke instead. Coca-Cola SaladIngredients A 2 liter bottle of coke Method Place coke and cherries in boiling pan and heat. Dissolve cream cheese, cherry jello, strawberry jello, pineapple, chopped nuts, and mayo into the boiling pan. Put into salad mold and refrigerate. Cracker Barrel Coca Cola Sheet CakeNotes: This recipe is used seasonally, or at the cooks discretion. Ingredients 1 cup Coca-cola Method For the Cake In a sauce pan, bring Coca-Cola, oil, margarine, and cocoa to a boil. Mix the sugar, flour and salt in. Pour boiling liquid into a deep bowl and beat well. Add the eggs, buttermilk, soda, and vanilla and beat well. Pour into a greased and floured sheet cake pan, and bake at 350 degrees for 20-25 minutes. For the Frosting 1/4 lb. Margarine In a saucepan, combine the butter cocoa, and milk and heat until the butter melts, Beat in the remaning ingredients, and Spread on the hot Cool and cut. 'Secret ingredient' Chocolate Fudge CakeIngredients 1 3/4 cups flour Method Preheat oven to 350 Degrees F. Lightly grease a 9 by 13 inch baking pan. Sift together dry ingredients and place in a large bowl. Into the centre stir remaining ingredients with a whisk to make a smooth, thin batter. Whisk about 3 minutes. Pour into pan and bake until cake tests done, about 40-45 minutes. Go To Page: 1 2
