Let's Go Caroling!!!The tradition of Christmas caroling has been around for a long time. Every year groups children in boy/girl scouts, choirs and school groups get together to sing the spirit of Christmas. They have fun while spreading the Christmas cheer. Why not plan to take your group caroling? It's easy! Children are always singing and Christmas songs are the songs they seem to love the most -- why? Because they're not singing them 12 months a year so they just can't get enough of those Christmas carols. Build a repertoire of Christmas songs you know the children will love such as: O Come All Ye Faithful, Silent Night, and Little Drummer Boy. Add some modern songs as well like Jungle Bells, I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus, Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer and Must be Santa. Your children don't need to know all the words, just a few verses of each song will do and they'll probably hum or just sing the notes. Call your local retirement home, legion or hospital and ask for the Public Relations Representative and ask for their procedures for carolers. Many will welcome you with open arms. Set a date two or three weeks after your phone call and start singing. Tell the children about giving the gift of music and joy to others who are not so fortunate; many of the grandmas and grandpas they will visit aren't lucky to have grandchildren. This is a concept children can relate to. Children won't need copies of songs but they can hold art and craft such as candles (see instructions below) or make jingle bells (see below). If you have time you can make sugar cookies with the children and offer them to the grandparents. Drawings from the little ones are also a welcomed treat. Music touches everyone and if you lift someone's spirit for a moment with a song, isn't it worth it? Candles You'll need: empty toilet paper rolls yellow and red tissue paper markers Let the children decorate the toilet paper rolls. Take a piece of yellow and red tissue paper and twist together. Place inside the roll and let it become the fire of the candle. Jingle Bells You'll need: jingle bells (4-5 per child) strips of material (the size of a child's braclet) Pass the material through the opening of the bells. Space them out evenly and tie onto the children's wrists. Guess the Christmas Carols! Christmas Fun!. You'll find 24 cartoon pictures. Print and let your children guess which carol goes with which picture?
