The perfect communication tool to reach parents about the day care operations is a monthly newsletter.
Get Your Parents To Help You: At my center, I have a mother who's into computers. She gives me a few hours a month to write the information I give her and she condenses it on maximum two pages. Another parent takes the original and makes our photocopies free of charge. The cost of our newsletter is only in time, time to write down the information. What can you put in your newsletter? Birthdays of the month: The children as well as staff members who celebrate birthdays during the month. In our day care, the educators are all women and they're not older than 29 years old. LOL. Theme of the week/month: Whether you have weekly, bi-weekly or monthly themes, it's important to let your parents know what their child will be doing during the day especially if you want them to cooperate. Here's the place to write down if next Friday's pyjama day or inside-out day. Children love special days, give parents a chance to bring their child in ready for the activity. Letter To The Director: Give the parents a chance to voice their opinions. Outings: Write all the information you don't have the room for on the permission slip. Where the children are going. The departure and arrival times. How you'll be travelling. The cost of the field-trip. If the child should be dressed in a certain way. If you'd like extra volunteers. These are just some ideas to inform the parent of your outings. If you have room in your newsletter and are visiting a new place; give a brief description. Funny Stuff: Children say funny things all the time. Write 3-5 examples in your newsletter. Parents will love reading what their child might have said or done. Meetings: Parents committee, parent/educator night or open houses can be advertised here. Hot Tips: Sounding like a Top Ten list, write the Top Ten Make-up tricks for Halloween, or gift-giving ideas for Christmas, ways to get children to take medication... I'm sure you can think up of a few ideas pertaining to your center. Fund Raising: If your center has one fund raiser a year or one every second month, here's the spot to inform them what's coming up, going on and how successful the last fund raiser was Go To Page: 1 2 |
