Healthcare Contract-Based Purchasing Through eCommerce

BACKGROUND

I-many, Inc., formerly known as Systems Consulting Company, Inc. (SCC), a leader in contract management software development, has launched a new eCommerce service that provides hospital personnel with the ability to use the Internet when making a purchase decision, review the contracts they can purchase from and compare the prices, etc. This business-to-business concept has provided manufacturers and hospital purchasers an environment where they may come together to make, manage, and maximize contracts, find/provide information, etc.

Formed in 1982, SCC has provided software consulting services for over a decade that have helped major pharmaceutical companies navigate the complexity of federal laws governing the sale of their products. Out of this service evolved the software application that has set the standard for automated contract management in the healthcare industry - Contract Administration and Reporting System/Integrated System (CARS®/IS).

eCOMMERCE

In today's on-line environment, eCommerce is already changing the healthcare industry. Current business-to-consumer sites include Drugstore.com and PlanteRx, which provide sales of prescription and over-the-counter products to consumers. WebMD and drkoop.com provide information and product promotion to consumers and doctors alike.

Non-contractual business-to-business healthcare web sites that provide sales of medical supplies to institutions are Neoforma and Medibuy. Chemdex and SciQuest are non-contractual in respect to the sales of lab supplies to pharmaceutical Research and Development companies.

Imany.com is the only marketplace that is focused on creating and developing individualized contractual relationships between healthcare buyers and sellers. I-many's solution to the current contracting process is manifold. Manufacturers may research members with a high incidence of treating a specific disease state, develop a campaign of materials and messages for Targeted Members, use "Push" technology to directy e-mail members, respond to direct feedback from customers, assess results, and perform adaptive experimentation.

On the flip side, consumers of healthcare services may now utilize a neutral contracting platform that enables individualized contracting for a wide range of products. Buyers can exert more control on Imany.com because manufacturers of the I-many community are privy to templates and member profiles. Using I-many also means getting real time instant access to relevant information, and direct one-to-many Request for Proposals with multiple manufacturers.

I-many.com is Truly a Unique eCommerce Solution Revolutionizing Healthcare Contracting As We Know It Today.
