Opening Up Shop

Once your site is up, you'll need to handle sales. Most people just login regularly to their site and retrieve their orders online. You can also have orders faxed to you, or even have the order sent to your servers electronically. The critical thing to remember is to meet your customer's expectations. Your customers will expect your company to be as fast and reliable as your website. This means that you'll need to check orders every day, be able to ship quickly, and respond quickly to customer questions.

Yahoo stores are not a perfect solution. Your site has to fit into one of their existing templates, which can hamper your style. They also don't offer the bells and whistles of some other providers. Finally, their costs scale proportionately with your business.

While they are not perfect, Yahoo stores are one of the best ways to start a new online business. Businesses can easily get their feet wet, without a huge learning curve or startup costs. If your business takes off and your needs expand, it will be easy to justify the additional expense and time required to build a more sophisticated ebusiness solution.

You can find out more about Yahoo stores at their site.
