The Underrated Pine Needle

Once you have the base ready, and this is optional, you can spray it with a gloss sealant. This will add a high shine to the needles and help to protect them from the elements.

Create a loop by tying a piece of ribbon around the base to use as a hanger. You can also weave ribbon in/out/around the base for color.

Next, embellish with small dried flowers or glue a combination of tiny pieces of fruit along with the flowers. Snipett: Use the bits and pieces you've saved from previous craft projects.

If you're thinking ahead to Halloween, these little pine needle bases are perfect decorated with orange ribbon (1/8") and miniature pumpkins. Glue a little dollop of glue in the curve of the base, press a little moss onto the glue then add a tiny pumpkin or two to create a pumpkin patch!

As I said, this is a very simple project that everyone can have a hand in. From collecting the pine needles and making the bases to adding the decorative and festive items, this is definitely a crafting project for the whole family.

Enjoy and if you have any ideas you'd like to share using pine needles, please let me know or start a discussion.

Look forward to hearing from you and till next time, Happy Crafting!
