Well, we all know what special day is fast approaching. That particular "red letter" day, the one where you see big "V's" everywhere you go. The day when chocolate is not a bad word. The day when Cupid and his arrows are seen flying high over the rows of red lace and pretty bows. The day when you can't get down the card isle at your local drug store. The day where you see flower vendors in places you never knew could accommodate so many parked cars. The day all the guys are at the mall frantically looking for the perfect V-Day gift. And finally, the day when all the numerous hints you've dropped the week before had better pay off.
This project is for all the crafty guys out there who are in need of a special gift that is original, beautiful, lasts for a long time, can be displayed proudly, won't wilt, doesn't add pounds, is colorful yet elegant and most importantly, says it all. Roses! You gotta love them. They come in a rainbow of colors from the deep burgundy reds, sunshine yellows, strawberry pinks, and cool lavenders to the purest white and vanilla creams. They encompass the whole spectrum of emotion from true love and devotion to first dates and great friendships. The supplies for this project are minimal but the finished result is stupendous! This is what you will need: · Silk roses, 12 to 14 stems (fully opened and/or buds preferably with dew drops) you select the favorite color. You can mix white or cream with pinks and yellows or you can do one color such as the red rose. · Vase (tall or short depending on the type of arrangement you want) Suggested vase types are crystal, fine ceramic, decorator vase in a color that will compliment the roses, cut glass, pottery with accented colors. · Tissue paper-color will depend on the color of the roses you are using. · Block of foam · Clippers to cut the rose stems · Moss (gray or beige) · Hot glue gun and clear glue (optional, use only if needed) · Baby's Breath dried (white or ivory) depending on the color of the roses. · Dried green fern, (Plumosa) the feathery type you get in a florist's arrangement. You should be able to find this at your local craft store if they carry a good variety of dried flowers. Place the vase on a flat surface. Take 1 to 2 sheets of tissue paper (depending on the size of the container) fold in half to three-quarters. Insert the paper inside the vase as a liner. You want the edges of the paper to extend past the mouth of the container to be a frame for the flowers. Go To Page: 1 2
